7th to 10th March 2012
The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams
posterThis is the play that established Tennessee Williams as a major American dramatist. The Glass Menagerie is perhaps the most personal and explicitly autobiographical of all his plays. It is a memory play, that is, the action follows the memories of Tom Wingfield, the narrator, and so is sentimental rather than realistic."In memory everything seems to happen to music". Set in the 1930's, in the Wingfield's cramped 2 bedroom apartment in St.Louis, it is the poignant drama of a family's gradual disintegration as each, in their own way, try to escape from the harsh reality of their lives.

Please Note: Some scenes in this play involve actors smoking on stage.
